Oral leukoplakia is a white patch or plaque inside the mouth that can not be characterized clinically or pathologically as any other disease.Most important factors are alcohol,smoking cigarettes and poor oral hygiene.Leukoplakia is the most important potentially (pre)malignant lesion.The golden standard of diagnosis is still histopathological examination range from hyper keratosis without epithelial dysplasia to frank SCC and verrucous carcinoma.Therefore the accuracy of the clinicians diagnosis very depends on their diagnostic capability.The use of artificial intelligence may become of great help to support the dentist in obtaining a correct clinical diagnosis of leukoplakia.For instance,application of texture analysis (TA)for leukoplakia is a promising diagnostic method.TA is commonly used in medicine to analyze X-ray photos,CT images or MRI.Intraoral digital photos of leukoplakia seems to be a good material for TA which will be helpful in early diagnosis.
